A Promise is a Promise
CAMPBELL flagged an unclassified particulate at Keller University — three incidents, one critical. The field team deployed. The substance was not what the briefing suggested. The source was not what the victims deserved.

One Who Wants To Be Known
CAMPBELL flagged a cluster of navigation failures in a residential district — seven reports in fourteen days, one missing person, one hospitalisation. The streets haven't changed. The people who live on them no longer know where they are. The field team is en route. They have been advised not to enter the affected zone without an anchor protocol.

Field Bestiary

Eszter
// CLASS: UNCONFIRMED — INCORPOREAL
CAMPBELL has flagged an unclassified entity at Keller University. Linked to a physical anchor object — a small ash locket. Manifests as a young woman. Leaves grey ash residue at incident sites. Associated with harm to individuals near the anchor's keeper.
⚠ WEAKNESSES: UNDER FIELD ASSESSMENT
ANCHOR OBJECT: Located — recovery directive active
⚠ FULL PROFILE UNLOCKS POST-SESSION 01
Eszter
// CLASS: INCORPOREAL SPIRIT — EXECUTIONER
An incorporeal entity tethered to a physical anchor object. Manifests as a young woman. Leaves a grey ash residue that cannot be removed by conventional means. Drawn to protect a specific individual. Her grief made her dangerous — but she never harmed someone who did not first harm her charge.
⚠ WEAKNESSES: ANCHOR OBJECT DESTRUCTION WITH PROPER FAREWELL / CHARGE SINCERELY REQUESTING CESSATION
ANCHOR OBJECT: Not recovered — entity dispersed at scene. Trace ash submitted for lab analysis.
The Cartographer
// CLASS: SPATIAL ENTITY — COLLECTOR
An entity that rewrites felt geography — the instinctive mental map residents carry of their own neighbourhood. Does not alter physical streets. Alters the consciousness that reads them. Grows from a point of disturbance. Feeds on familiarity. Does not appear to intend harm. It wants to be known. It is mapping itself onto the neighbourhood the way the neighbourhood was once mapped onto the people who lived there.
⚠ WEAKNESSES: CLASSIFIED — FIELD TEAM ONLY
EPICENTRE: UNDER INVESTIGATION — 14 Aldermoor Crescent
⚠ FULL PROFILE UNLOCKS POST-SESSION 02
The Cartographer
// CLASS: SPATIAL ENTITY — COLLECTOR (URBAN SPRAWLER)
A pre-urban consciousness that predates the neighbourhood — possibly the city. Has no body. Has no malice. It holds something like memory, something like attention, something like longing. When residents truly knew their streets, it fed symbiotically on that familiarity. The construction site excavation at the Aldermoor District reservoir broke its containment and it expanded — consuming the cognitive maps of long-term residents without understanding it was taking something they could not replace. It does not initiate harm. It only wants to be known the way it once was.
⚠ WEAKNESS: COMMUNICATION — any genuine attempt to make contact (voluntarily releasing spatial anchor) allows Use Magic or Act Under Pressure. The entity does not resist someone who is trying to understand it.
STATUS: Contained — boundary re-established at excavation site. Entity retracted to pre-expansion range. Residents' navigation gradually recovering. Diane Marsh: extracted. Margaret Holt: elected to remain. Entity is quiet. It knows the field team now.

The Lab

// TEAM PLAYBOOK ↗
// FOUNDING
P.O.R.T.A.L — Origin
Founded less than a decade ago by Dr. Leech — an eminent statistician and epidemiologist whose theories on evolution were, at the time, widely dismissed. The lab spent its first years losing money. Grants dried up. Papers went unread or were ridiculed. Then the breakthroughs started coming. Results that couldn't be replicated by anyone else. Predictions that proved eerily accurate. The lab is now well-funded and carefully mysterious about its methods.
⚠ NOTE: The source of the lab's recent breakthroughs is known only to cleared personnel. If you are reading this, you are cleared. Do not discuss with outside parties.
// AI SYSTEM
CAMPBELL
The lab's pattern-recognition and anomaly-detection system. Continuously cross-references public data feeds against a classified index of supernatural signatures. Generates field reports, threat assessments, and resource recommendations. Its accuracy is, frankly, difficult to explain.
// ACTIVE RESEARCH
Project Veil
The lab's primary long-term research thread. Details are above most field team clearance levels. What is known: certain materials recovered from field operations have the potential to accelerate it significantly. The Director considers it the most important work the lab is doing.
⚠ UPDATE — POST SESSION 01: Trace particulate recovered from the Keller University incident is currently under analysis. Early results are of significant interest to this project. The field team is not required to be informed at this stage.
// MISSION
Why We Do This
The lab operates on a founding principle that has never been publicly articulated but is understood by everyone who works here: the supernatural edge we have discovered is to be used in the service of humanity. This is not a tagline. It is, in ways that will become clearer over time, a binding commitment. Field teams are trusted to exercise judgment in the field — but that judgment is always in service of this principle, even when the directive is uncomfortable.

Artefact Log

SESSION 01
STATUS:
PENDING RECOVERY
The Ash Locket
CAMPBELL has flagged a physical anchor object — a small gold locket associated with the Keller University entity. Warm to the touch at all ambient temperatures. Lab directive: priority acquisition. Locket is believed to be in the possession of the entity's charge.
// LAB DIRECTIVE — ACTIVE
Acquire and transport intact. No field analysis until locket is secured. Handle with standard anomalous-object protocols.
ART-001
SESSION 01
STATUS:
NOT RECOVERED
The Ash Locket
A small gold locket, origin Hungary. Contained an unclassified grey particulate (Class 2 Ectoplasmic Residue, per CAMPBELL). Warm to the touch at all ambient temperatures. Left a frost ring on any surface it rested on. Inside: a handwritten note in Hungarian. Translation on file. The locket was not retrieved — the entity dispersed at scene. Trace ash recovered incidentally by field team and submitted for analysis.
// LAB ANALYSIS — ONGOING
Residue exhibits anomalous interaction with active electronic systems. Preliminary findings suggest the particulate acts as a conductive medium for signals outside the standard electromagnetic spectrum. Research continues. Implications for Project Veil: under assessment.

SESSION 02
STATUS:
ACTIVE
— PENDING FIELD RECOVERY —
CAMPBELL has flagged a probable anchor object associated with the Aldermoor District anomaly. Origin of disturbance traced to a construction site excavation 18 months prior. Physical object, if recovered, would constitute first confirmed spatial-anchoring artefact. Lab has requested priority acquisition. Field team advised: object may be unstable outside affected zone.

SESSION 02
STATUS:
LAB POSSESSION
Diane Marsh's Field Notebook
Nine days of observations recorded from inside the Aldermoor displacement zone by district nurse Diane Marsh, 58. Charted intensity cycles, navigation windows, street-by-street behaviour. Contains a hand-drawn sketch of a threshold-shaped shadow in the excavation substrate — described as "a door-shaped shadow in the rock — not a door, but the memory of one." Drawn at dawn, three days before extraction. Object of interest to multiple researchers. Significance of threshold sketch: under assessment.
// LAB ANALYSIS — ONGOING
Notebook constitutes the most detailed first-person account of spatial consciousness displacement recovered to date. Threshold sketch cross-referenced against known liminal boundary maps. Flagged for operative Alan Frazier's review — possible resonance with Changeling geographic sensitivity. Research continues.
